As a Tractor Trailer Driver at Herc Rentals, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our customers get the heavy equipment and construction machinery they need. You’ll be responsible for the safe and timely transport, delivery, and retrieval of diverse equipment, consistently maintaining a high standard of quality both on and off-site. You’ll become an expert in our operating standards across the facility, region, and corporation.


What You’ll Do

  • Transport and deliver a wide range of construction and heavy equipment.
  • Operate commercial and non-commercial vehicles safely, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Be a professional and customer-focused representative of Herc Rentals.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each pickup and delivery.
  • Maintain all delivery documents throughout the day, ready for inspection by management or state safety officers.
  • Skillfully maneuver vehicles in challenging conditions like heavy traffic, bad weather, mountainous terrain, or tight loading docks.
  • Secure equipment (chaining, strapping, blocking) strictly following DOT policies and established procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with your Branch Manager or central dispatch about delivery schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety rules at customer job sites, facilities, and Herc Rentals locations.
  • Offer basic training assistance to customers on the safe operation of vehicles, tools, or machinery when asked.
  • Promptly report any damage to Herc Rentals property discovered during equipment pickup.
  • Immediately report all accidents involving yourself or equipment to the Branch Manager or Central Dispatch.
  • Communicate any delays (breakdowns, weather, traffic) that might affect timely pickups or deliveries.
  • Stay flexible in your daily routine to adapt to customer demands and management requests.
  • Accurately maintain all required paperwork and logs daily.

What You’ll Need

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of tractor trailer driving experience within the last three years.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with tanker endorsement.
  • Current medical card.
  • You’ll need to obtain a Hazmat endorsement within 120 days of employment (assistance will be provided!).
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
