Job Overview:
Due to continued business growth, Nimbus Solar is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Commercial Solar Electrician to join our installation team. You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding of solar PV and battery systems across commercial, industrial, residential, and ground-mount projects.
This is a hands-on field-based role suited to an electrician with a solid background in renewable energy systems, particularly within commercial settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Install and maintain electrical systems for solar PV and battery storage installations

Configure and connect: inverters, battery banks, AC/DC cabling, distribution boards, export power managers, and generation meters

Read and interpret single line diagrams, technical drawings, and electrical specifications

Conduct system inspections to identify defects or hazards

Carry out fault-finding, troubleshooting, and implement repairs

Coordinate with the roofing and structural team to ensure seamless system delivery

Liaise with clients to provide on-site progress updates

Complete system commissioning and electrical testing, producing relevant certifications

Maintain detailed records of materials, test results, and site activity

Follow all relevant health and safety regulations on site
Required Qualifications:

City & Guilds 2330 Electrical Installations (or equivalent)
-
City & Guilds 2357 Electro-technical NVQ (or equivalent)
-
City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition
-
City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing (or equivalent)
-
Valid ECS Gold Card
-
Full UK driving license
Essential Skills and Experience:
-
Minimum 2+ years’ experience working on Commercial Solar PV systems

Ability to test, inspect, and issue electrical test certificates

Strong problem-solving skills and self-motivation
-
High standards of accuracy, safety, and workmanship

Experience with inverter commissioning, monitoring systems, and remote portals

Excellent communication and client-handling skills
Desirable (Not Essential):

IPAF certification
-
Solar PV/Battery installation qualifications
-
Experience with monitoring systems like SolarEdge, Fronius, or GivEnergy
Additional Information:

This role involves regular overnight stays (food and travel expenses covered)

Initially a sub-contract position with potential to go full-time for the right candidate

Training provided to keep you up to date with system technologies

Van can be supplied
Schedule:

Monday to Friday

Occasional weekend/overnight work as required
