Farm Technician

About the Role

The UK Agri-Tech Centre is seeking a Farm Technician to join its dynamic Farms Team, managing a wide range of sensor technologies and field platforms deployed across the UK. This hands-on role involves supporting on-farm technical trials, operating high-tech agricultural equipment, and ensuring systems are functioning for real-time data collection and research.

You’ll work with leading stakeholders in the agri-tech ecosystem and play a critical part in delivering and scaling innovative trials and research projects across the national farm network.

Key Responsibilities

In this varied and field-focused role, you will:

• Operate, maintain, and monitor a fleet of technical equipment and mobile platforms.

• Perform field-based trials, manage high-quality data collection, and ensure trial success.

• Coordinate project activities on-farm, including site preparation, equipment installation, and oversight.

• Assist in the development and testing of new agri-tech tools and services.

• Liaise with farmers, researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure collaborative delivery.

• Represent the UK Agri-Tech Centre at project meetings, farm events, and knowledge exchange workshops (UK and occasionally abroad).

• Support training sessions, demos, and create content for wider dissemination.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proactive, organised, and tech-savvy individual with a keen interest in agriculture and innovation. Ideal candidates will bring:

• A degree or equivalent experience in agriculture, engineering, or a related field

• Experience with farm technology, precision farming, or agricultural engineering

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Good organisational abilities and attention to detail

• IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office

• An understanding of project coordination and the agri-tech landscape
