Role Overview
The Transport Planning Coordinator is responsible for managing and optimising the routing of deliveries and collections to ensure efficient logistics operations. The role supports drivers, liaises with stakeholders, and ensures all transport activities are compliant with legal and company policies. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires exceptional organisation, communication, and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, and monitor vehicle routes for deliveries and collections.

Coordinate daily transport operations, ensuring smooth execution across all sites.

Act as a key point of contact for drivers and internal stakeholders.

Provide excellent customer service and ensure delivery performance targets are met.

Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, company procedures, and health and safety standards.

Schedule vehicle servicing, MOTs, and inspections in line with regulatory requirements.

Identify and implement routing efficiencies and service level improvements.

Support incident resolution and maintain accurate transport logs and reports.
Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role.

Strong knowledge of route planning and vehicle scheduling.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Competent with transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

Strong customer focus and problem-solving capabilities.
-
Ability to motivate and support a diverse team of drivers.
Desirable
-
Understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
-
Experience in the recycling, waste management, or manufacturing sectors.
-
CPC qualification (beneficial but not essential).
