Job Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Craft Attendant based at our Alfreton depot. In this role, you’ll support the repair, construction, replacement, and alteration of assets across our electrical distribution network. You will work mainly outdoors and be part of a two-person team contributing to critical infrastructure work.
This is a physically active, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in outdoor environments, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to learn.
Main Responsibilities:

Prepare the worksite and ensure tasks are understood before starting

Erect signs and barriers, excavate and backfill trenches, and install cables
-
Operate a mini excavator (training provided)

Fix meter boards, meters, and cut-outs
-
Perform service terminations (single and 3-phase – dead)

Assist with cable laying, pole digging, and stay hole excavation

Carry out basic first aid as trained
-
Maintain tools, materials, and vehicles in a safe condition
-
Minimise customer disruption and provide clear communication to the public

Resolve customer issues when possible and escalate where needed

Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols
-
Report accidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures
Ideal Candidate:

Comfortable working in all weather conditions in a physically demanding role

Flexible and responsive – able to adapt to different tasks and locations
-
Electrical knowledge is beneficial but not essential (training provided)

Team player with a proactive, can-do approach

Full UK driving licence preferred

Willingness to undertake out-of-hours standby and travel if required
