The School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography is seeking an experienced Academic Administrator to lead the administration of its graduate taught courses and DPhil programmes, while ensuring coordination with shared graduate and undergraduate offerings. This pivotal role combines strategic oversight with hands-on day-to-day operational responsibilities, providing an excellent opportunity to manage and shape the graduate student journey from admission to final examination.
You will manage a small team of two administrators and work closely with academic staff and administrative colleagues to deliver a high-quality academic experience. The role demands someone who can operate at a strategic level, while also remaining closely involved in the practical execution of academic processes.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee administration for all taught and research graduate programmes within the School

Provide strategic and operational leadership in academic administration

Lead and develop a team of two administrative staff

Liaise closely with academic staff, the School’s broader administrative team, and external partners

Manage the student lifecycle: admissions, on-course administration, assessments, and examinations

Support the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures

Contribute to continuous process improvement and academic planning initiatives

Essential:

Significant experience in academic administration

Strong understanding of the UK Higher Education landscape
