Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager or Senior Manager, the Senior Clinical Data Specialist plays a key role in delivering accurate and high-quality clinical data solutions to hospital partners nationwide. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize specialized clinical expertise to accurately interpret, categorize, code, summarize, and calculate complex patient information from medical records for hospital partners.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of data to appropriate registries or reporting repositories, consistently meeting high standards of data quality.

  • Effectively manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and communicate clearly with stakeholders, using sound judgment to navigate challenges and escalate issues with proposed solutions when necessary.

  • Adapt quickly to various technical systems, including EMRs and case entry platforms; proactively leverage team resources to resolve technical issues.

  • Contribute to team knowledge-building efforts by helping create and improve documentation such as abstraction guidelines, data dictionaries, and process documentation; offer ideas for improving operational efficiency.

  • Stay current with data reporting requirements and regulations issued by federal, state, payer, and accrediting agencies.

  • Perform other duties as needed to support the team and hospital partnerships.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of assigned patient records and projects.

  • Clear, adaptable communication style suitable for working with a range of stakeholders including hospital teams, peers, and leadership.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple accounts and adjust quickly to shifting priorities.

  • Flexible and resilient in adapting to changes in project scope, partner requirements, and timelines.

  • Committed to protecting the privacy and security of patient health information (PHI) in all interactions.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.


Education & Experience

  • Recent abstraction experience (within the last 12 months) in STS General Thoracic (GTS) or Adult Cardiac (ACS) registries.

  • Familiarity with a variety of electronic medical records (EMRs) and clinical database platforms.

  • Prior hands-on clinical experience is preferred.

  • RN or LPN credentials are highly desirable or equivalent clinical background.
