About the Role
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is currently recruiting a Trainee Orthopaedic Technician to support the plaster room, outpatient department, A&E, and orthopaedic services. This is an exciting opportunity to train under the supervision of experienced Orthopaedic Technicians and nurses while working towards the British Casting Certificate.
The postholder will follow a structured training programme and perform tasks under supervision until assessed as competent.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the application of all types of splints and casts (under supervision until deemed competent)

Measure, supply, and fit orthopaedic appliances appropriately

Support the delivery of Plaster Room services across multiple departments including A&E, Theatres, and inpatient wards

Advise patients verbally and in writing on cast care and possible complications

Measure, supply, and offer guidance on walking aids

Maintain cleanliness and functionality of instruments and equipment
-
Report risks, hazards, or incidents to senior staff as appropriate
-
Engage in ongoing development, research, and audit activities to improve practice
Training and Development

Full training will be provided under the guidance of a Band 5 Orthopaedic Technician or trained nurse

You will be supported to complete the British Casting Certificate when you meet the criteria
