Position Summary
Vertex is seeking a Senior Manager of Data Governance to lead initiatives that ensure the quality, integrity, security, and effective management of HR data across the organization. This role is key to building and maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, and practices that align with regulatory standards and support business goals. The successful candidate will champion data-driven decision-making, enforce governance standards, and drive continuous improvement in data quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the HR Data Governance and Quality Strategy, aligning it with broader enterprise governance objectives.

Design and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures focusing on data accuracy, privacy, consistency, and security.

Define critical data elements (CDEs) and establish performance metrics and risk indicators to monitor data quality and compliance.

Conduct data analysis and audits to identify trends, detect inconsistencies, and recommend improvements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement the Enterprise Data Governance Framework and support stewardship initiatives.

Drive awareness of governance programs through effective communication, showcasing the business impact of improved data quality.

Partner with senior leadership and business units to understand data needs and prioritize governance efforts accordingly.

Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal risk management and security protocols.

Develop and facilitate training programs for data stewards, owners, and other stakeholders on governance best practices.

Manage the issue intake and resolution process for data quality problems, including profiling, rule creation, and remediation tracking.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.

Minimum 6 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or related areas with demonstrated results.

Expertise in HR data governance and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.

Strong track record of promoting a data-first culture and embedding governance principles into company processes.

Proficiency in data quality management, metadata, master data, and data lineage practices.

Skilled in SQL, Power BI, and data analysis/reporting tools.

Experience with data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, Collibra, Alation, or similar.

Solid understanding of modern data architecture, integration tools, and cloud technologies.

Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
Compensation Range
-
Base Salary: $132,800 – $199,200
-
Additional Compensation: Eligible for annual bonus and equity awards.

Actual compensation is determined based on experience, skills, and location.
