Cloud Architect/DevOps Engineer

Key Responsibilities

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will play a critical role in the design, execution, and support of IT and mission-enabling cloud solutions. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Cloud Architecture Development: Design and evaluate architectural options for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments, including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and other cloud-based services.

• Cloud Solutions Implementation: Lead the implementation of cloud solutions that support mission objectives and IT modernization efforts.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Partner with development teams to create reusable cloud provisioning templates using technologies such as Terraform and CloudFormation.

• DevOps Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate DevOps toolchains including Git, Jenkins, Chef, and Puppet, and container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.

• CI/CD Pipeline Support: Facilitate the onboarding and automation of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines across multiple development teams.

• Epic Creation & Technical Planning: Translate strategic priorities into actionable program epics and guide the technical implementation across the platform.

• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between development teams and program leadership, effectively communicating technical direction and project priorities.

• Solution Design Leadership: Collaborate with Contracts Officer Technical Representatives (COTRs) and Group Chiefs to align solutions with mission capabilities.

• Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with system architects and engineers to ensure the consistency, scalability, and integration of system architecture.

• Technical Innovation: Identify and address technical challenges with innovative solutions to maintain progress and mission alignment.

Qualifications

• Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.

• Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 10–12 years of relevant experience, or

  • Master’s degree with 8–10 years of experience, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.

• Cloud Platform Expertise:

  • Hands-on experience configuring, automating, and operating cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or other major CSPs).

• Testing & Automation:

  • Experience automating unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing using tools such as JUnit, JMeter, Selenium, and/or Jest.

• DevOps Tools & Practices:

  • Proficient with Git, including branching strategies like GitFlow and GitHub Flow.

  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Helm charts, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

• Communication Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.

• Adaptability:

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving technical environment.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with NRO programs and a solid understanding of requirements management within the Intelligence Community.

• Proficiency with AWS and Azure services, Microservices architecture, 12-Factor App principles, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Java-based ecosystems.

• Experience working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or Extreme Programming (XP), and use of Agile tools like JIRA and Confluence.

• Demonstrated use of CI/CD practices, including:

  • Automated Testing

  • Automated Security Scanning

  • Automated Build/Packaging

  • Automated Delivery & Deployment
