Maintenance Operative – Build Your Career with North Yorkshire Council

This role focuses on maintaining and refurbishing social housing stock to ensure it meets the Decent Homes Standard and complies with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Single Skilled Operative, you will:

Carry out domestic general building works (e.g., plastering, painting, tiling, roof repairs, basic plumbing)

Complete tasks as per job orders or construction specifications

Ensure health and safety compliance and site cleanliness
-
Support in a secondary trade where trained
-
Attend required training for skills and safety
As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you will:

Deliver tasks across multiple trades, including painting, roofing, tiling, and groundworks

Apply a good working knowledge of construction and domestic building practices

Work independently and maintain a professional manner on site

Assist with safety checks on council vehicles used in the role
What You’ll Bring

Qualifications in a construction-related trade (NVQ Level 2/3 preferred)

Time-served tradespeople with significant experience are welcome to apply

Solid experience working in domestic building maintenance

Knowledge of building regulations and construction safety standards

Strong communication and reliability

Valid UK driving licence
