Job Overview

Stafford Hall School, part of Young Foundations, is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join our specialist educational setting based across two stunning sites in Halifax and Hipperholme. We cater to students on the autism spectrum, many of whom also have trauma histories and complex needs. Our learning environment is supportive, therapeutic, and designed to meet both educational and emotional development goals.

About the Role

As a SEN Teacher, you will work with a maximum class size of 4 students, supported by a dedicated Teaching Associate. You will deliver a broad and inclusive curriculum tailored to each student’s EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan), with a particular focus on core subjects such as Maths, English, Science, and PSHE, while also incorporating therapeutic approaches, sensory regulation, and life skills development.

You will play a vital role in preparing students for adulthood by supporting them to explore their interests, gain career guidance, and engage in work experience opportunities. Your approach will be empathetic, trauma-informed, and student-centred, helping each young person feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering creative, adapted lessons across multiple subjects

  • Supporting students with complex communication, social, and emotional needs

  • Ensuring safeguarding and mandatory training compliance (e.g., Prevent, Safer Care)

  • Promoting inclusive practices and cultural, moral, and social development

  • Collaborating with families, professionals, and external agencies

  • Supporting pupils’ wellbeing alongside academic progress
