Job Overview

We are looking for freelance artists of any dance genre to join us in delivering exceptional dance experiences for children, young people, and adults through our Creative Learning, Classes & Courses, and Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programmes.

We welcome applications from artists with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who are passionate about inclusive teaching and representation. These roles are ideal for both experienced educators and early-career artists looking to grow in dynamic, creative settings.

Current Openings Include:

  • Dance Teachers (Children, Youth, Adults)

  • Deputy Artists (Creative Learning support roles)

  • Teaching Assistants

  • Cover Teachers

Our Programmes

1. Creative Learning

Engaging Key Stage 2 children in 10-week school-based projects. We seek both experienced Lead Artists and new entrants to support delivery.

  • Lead Artist Pay: £61.37/hour

  • Deputy Artist Pay: £29.19/hour (1hr), £48.65 (2hr)

2. Centre for Advanced Training (CAT)

Saturday and Tuesday evening dance training (ages 11–18) with a focus on contemporary, ballet, and creative practice.

  • Pay: £53.12–£88.53/class (depending on class length)

3. Classes & Courses

Delivering dance classes for children, young people, and adults, including over-60s.

  • Pay: £43.66–£72.76/class

  • Classes run weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the role, duties may include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality dance sessions

  • Supporting participants’ creative and technical development

  • Collaborating with musicians and teaching assistants

  • Assisting with performance preparation and safeguarding

  • Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of inclusive, safe dance practices

  • Experience working with children, young people, or adults in educational/community settings

  • Strong planning, communication, and collaboration skills

  • A positive, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude

  • Degree in dance or equivalent professional experience

Training & Events

  • Mandatory CPD Training Day: Sat 13 Sept 2025

  • Information Sessions:

    • Online: Thu 10 Jul 2025 (10:00–11:00am)

    • In-Person at The Place: Thu 17 Jul 2025 (6:30–7:30pm)
