Role Overview
ESA Newhaven is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher to join our team in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent post suitable for a qualified teacher (MPS1–UPS3). You will be responsible for planning and delivering a personalised curriculum, promoting high expectations, and supporting students—many with additional or complex needs—to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:

Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons across designated subject(s)

Plan, assess, and record learning in line with school policy

Adapt teaching for pupils with SEND and EHC plans
-
Track, monitor, and report on pupil progress and outcomes
-
Prepare individual pupil profiles, subject reports, and termly schemes of work
-
Contribute to regular work sampling, assessment cycles, and homework setting
-
Ensure curriculum content remains up-to-date and relevant
Student Support and Curriculum Development:

Create personalised learning experiences
-
Promote inclusive practices and positive pupil engagement
-
Support students in transitions to mainstream education, further training, or employment
-
Collaborate with external agencies and parents/carers
-
Engage actively in behaviour management, safeguarding, and attendance strategies
Wider Contribution and Development:
-
Participate in whole-academy development plans, Ofsted improvement actions, and staff meetings
-
Support offsite and enrichment activities
-
Engage in CPD and performance management
-
Ensure a safe and positive learning environment
-
Comply with ESA and LSEAT policies and uphold the academy’s ethos and vision
What We’re Looking For

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

Strong classroom management skills
-
Experience working with learners with SEN or in alternative provision (desirable)

Excellent planning, assessment, and communication skills

A passion for inclusive education and student-centred practice
