Flight Doctor

Role Overview:

At IMG (International Medical Group), we are proud to offer a unique opportunity for experienced physicians to join our dynamic Flight Medical Team on an adhoc contractor basis. As a Flight Doctor, you will play a vital role in the safe and compassionate medical repatriation and evacuation of patients across the globe.

With a legacy of excellence in international medical insurance and support services, IMG has assisted thousands of individuals by delivering critical care and transportation when it’s needed most. As our global reach continues to grow, we are looking to expand our trusted network of Flight Doctors to meet increasing repatriation demands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-flight medical support for international patient repatriation and evacuation

• Operate autonomously and confidently in dynamic, high-pressure environments

• Liaise with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and global support teams

• Assess, stabilise, and monitor patients before and during flights, ensuring their safety and comfort

• Maintain accurate medical records and follow best practices in aeromedical transport

• Adapt quickly to different healthcare settings, aircraft types, and logistical challenges

What We’re Looking For:

• Full GMC registration with a valid licence to practice in the UK

• Minimum 4 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in acute care settings such as A&E, ICU, or pre-hospital environments

• Previous experience in aeromedical retrievals is essential

• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make decisions independently under pressure

• Demonstrated understanding of aeromedical physiology, including the effects of flight on medical conditions

• Completion of or working towards a recognised aeromedical training course (e.g. CCAT)

• Willingness to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice

• Excellent communication skills and a calm, compassionate approach

• Full right to work in the UK is required
