Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support our clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone experienced in primary care, NHS health checks, and clinical support procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care

Assist patients with health checks, ECGs, phlebotomy, urinalysis, BP, height, and weight.

Support wound care, suture removal, immunisations, and long-term condition monitoring.

Conduct NHS Health Checks and follow up with relevant care pathways.

Chaperone patients during clinical procedures.

Explain treatments and offer reassurance during consultations.
Administration & Triage

Process and code clinical letters, updating patient records accurately.
-
Arrange appointments, referrals, diagnostic tests, and follow-ups.

Signpost correspondence to the correct clinician or department.
Infection Control & Safety
-
Maintain a clean, hazard-free working area.

Follow cold chain, decontamination, and spill control protocols.

Handle specimens, waste, and sharps safely in accordance with policy.

Comply with infection prevention standards and use PPE as required.
Training & Development

Attend annual appraisals and review performance objectives.

Participate in health & safety and clinical best practice training.
Public Health & Engagement

Support seasonal health campaigns such as flu vaccination clinics.

Provide advice and direct care to improve patient wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For
-
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP, NHS, or community health setting.

Confident with patient interaction, phlebotomy, and routine clinical tasks.

Knowledge of infection control, medical coding, and EMIS/Vision systems (desirable).

Excellent communication and multitasking skills.

Strong organisational skills and a calm, compassionate nature.
