Charles Joy has partnered with a middle-market manufacturer to find their next Plant Controller.
The ideal candidate has previous experience as a manager and has solid cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Plant Controller
What you will do:
- Determine and ensure the follow-up on raw materials and monitor COGS.
- Preparation of plant operating plans and assist in the development of rates and standard costs.
- Manage, train, hire (when needed) and delegate work for two accounting professionals.
- Complete month-end close and account reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Identification of risks and/or changes that impact plant performance; develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Prepares financial statements
- Assist other functional areas within the plant to ensure the overall integrity and consistency with the plant business plan.
- Provide counsel to the Manufacturing and Operations leadership on issues and situations which impact the present and future performance of the plant.
- Ensures that Operations Management is focused on issues that impact present and future performance.
- Ensure In-stock levels, backorders, capacity, inventory, and scrap.
- Identify causes for significant variances, along with the recommended course of corrective action.
- Represents operations management in terms of presentation of the financial and operational aspects of performance at the required meetings and periodic reviews.
- Analyzes and evaluates operational and financial results and initiates corrective action where necessary.
- Designs and implements reporting and control systems and procedures such that the key indicators of manufacturing performance can be monitored, reported on, and corrective action can be implemented on a timely basis.
- Monitors and tracks Capital Expenditure projects
- Complete ad-hoc projects as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance
- Required: Seven years or more in a cost accounting or plant accounting related role in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience managing at least one accounting professional
- Previous experience with manufacturing operations
- Work on-site in SW metro of the Twin Cities, MN
- Advanced budgetary and cost accounting skills
- A history of commitment to past employers
