Position Summary
The Guidance Counselor supports students in achieving academic success, developing career goals, and addressing personal challenges that may affect learning. This role collaborates with staff, parents, and the community to ensure student growth, success, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities

Provide academic, career, and personal counseling to students.

Guide course selection and post-secondary planning.

Assist with college, scholarship, and employment applications.

Interpret assessments and help students identify strengths and career interests.

Support dropout prevention and student engagement initiatives.

Maintain confidential student records.

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to improve student outcomes.

Facilitate career programs, field trips, and community activities.
Qualifications

Valid Missouri Guidance Counselor Certification.

Degree and experience required for certification.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Employment Details

Contract: 9.5 months (with additional days for secondary counselors).

Salary & Benefits: Set by the Board of Education; includes retirement plan (PEERS/PSRS + Social Security) and full district benefits.

Clearance: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background check required.
