Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert nursing care across the patient lifespan in a variety of settings.

  • Conduct accurate assessments, identify patient needs, and develop individualized care plans.

  • Implement, document, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient outcomes.

  • Supervise and mentor LPNs, RNs, and support personnel; serve as a charge nurse or team leader as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with approved, research-based practice standards and maintain thorough documentation.

  • Assist the Nurse Manager with staffing, resource allocation, budgeting, performance improvement initiatives, and customer satisfaction efforts.

  • Precept and support the orientation and development of new staff and students.

  • Engage in continuous quality improvement projects and nursing research initiatives.

  • Advocate for patients’ autonomy, dignity, and rights while delivering non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care.

  • Uphold the ANA Code of Ethics and maintain current clinical competencies and certifications.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Two (2) years of nursing experience in the practice area required.

  • Previous leadership experience (charge nurse or similar role) required.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current NYS Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.

  • Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

  • Specialty certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be required depending on the unit.

  • National certifications in specialty practice preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping.

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and grasping.

  • Constant standing, walking, typing, hearing, visual acuity, and use of computer/monitor equipment.

Workplace Hazards and Conditions:

  • Exposure to bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, mechanical and radiation hazards.

  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and electrical risks.

  • Frequent exposure to noise, gases, and odors.
