Accounting Specialist
Role Overview:
Support financial operations by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, and fund accountability, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards. Analyze financial transactions, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB.
- Analyze expenditures and assess financial transactions for accuracy.
- Utilize Missouri state systems such as Missouri Buys/MOVERS and SAM II.
- Prepare monthly commission budgets on both accrual and cash bases.
- Assist with audits, respond to corrective action plans, and track progress.
- Maintain contractor payment databases and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Provide financial insights to management and recommend solutions.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree with 24+ credit hours in accounting and 3+ years of experience in business or government accounting.
- Knowledge of financial management, auditing principles, and state/federal financial regulations.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities.
