Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with costing expertise to join our team in Skokie, IL. This role supports cost analysis, process optimization, and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with the plant finance team on month-end close, budgeting, and performance analysis while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls. Success in this role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Controller to set and maintain standard costs for parts

• Update BOMs, routing, and overhead rates

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheets at month-, quarter-, and year-end

• Analyze material and labor variances and identify process improvements

• Communicate regularly with operations, HR, engineering, and logistics teams

• Drive inventory control enhancements and accuracy initiatives

• Ensure timely financial reporting and compliance with SOX/internal controls

• Provide ad hoc financial reports and analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred)

• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience

• Strong cost accounting knowledge

• Familiar with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Automotive industry experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $90,000–$110,000 (additional incentives may apply)
