About the Role

MU Health Care is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support the finance department with maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations. This role plays a key part in month-end closing, reconciliations, and audit preparation, contributing to efficient and transparent financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review accounting transactions, journal entries, and reports.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to ensure accuracy.

  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial statements and internal reporting.

  • Maintain accurate records including invoices, receipts, and statements.

  • Provide analyses, identify anomalies, and recommend process improvements.

  • Support annual audits by gathering and organizing required financial documents.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 1 year of accounting or finance experience.

Preferred:

  • Prior healthcare or hospital finance experience.

  • Knowledge of hospital billing processes and financial operations.
