The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is seeking a motivated Accountant II to manage financial operations across multiple programs and funding sources. This role plays a key part in budget management, financial reporting, audits, and compliance to support South Dakota’s economic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial activities for federal and state grants, including reimbursements and reporting.
  • Process voucher payments, monitor fund allocations, and ensure fiscal accuracy.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations, budget tracking, and ACFR preparation.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist in annual budget planning.
  • Perform audits, identify discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
  • Guide and review the work of junior accountants.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 1-2 years of progressive experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
