Company Overview

Oversees the financial management of sponsored projects in compliance with sponsor requirements and institutional policies. Prepares financial analyses and reports to support both internal decision-making and external reporting obligations. Performs responsibilities of moderate to high complexity, requiring sound judgment and attention to detail, including account analysis, journal entry preparation, invoice submission, and the review of assigned sponsored programs. Handles inquiries and provides timely resolution of financial issues. Proactively identifies and addresses problem areas, offering recommendations to enhance and streamline financial processes and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Communicates accounting information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and collaborates effectively with research teams

  • Performs accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines

  • Works independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision; actively seeks opportunities to improve processes and address inefficiencies

  • Interprets and applies government regulations and circulars related to research grants and contracts to ensure compliance

  • Reviews assigned awards to monitor reporting schedules and requirements

  • Identifies Federal and State grants subject to OMB Circular A-133 audit requirements

  • Ensures optimal utilization of grant funding

  • Maintains detailed reconciliation spreadsheets for general ledger activity

  • Prepares A-133 audit documentation and supports the annual audit process as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged computer use and sitting; repetitive wrist motion; occasional lifting (10–20 lbs)

  • Frequent written and verbal communication required

  • Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to meet deadlines under pressure

  • Occasional travel to system facilities and affiliate sites

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment

Education, Experience & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • At least 1 year of related experience preferred

Compensation

  • Hourly base pay: $28.05 – $42.10 (dependent on qualifications and experience)

  • May include premium and incentive pay; performance-based annual increases
