About the Role
Under the direction of the Director of Accounts Receivable, the Accounting Clerk/Cashier supports student success by performing a variety of standardized accounting and cashiering procedures. This role requires attention to detail, strong customer service, and the ability to maintain compliance with financial privacy and security regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Transactions: Process deposits, receipts, vouchers, check requests, payments, refunds, and international transactions with accuracy.

Student Account Management: Handle tuition payments, adjustments, financial aid refunds, chargebacks, cooperative agreements, and appeals.

Billing & Partnerships: Review, correct, and process third-party billings and cooperative agreements.

Data & Records Management: Ensure accuracy of addresses, restrictions, duplicate records, and compliance with records retention policies.

Collaboration: Work across college departments to audit, input, and process student and employee information.

Customer Service: Provide professional assistance to students, staff, and external partners with inquiries and cashiering processes.
Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Associate’s degree in Business or related field preferred

Experience:

Minimum 2 years in accounts payable/receivable, banking, or related field (cashiering experience accepted)

Skills & Competencies:

Proficiency in data entry and money handling

Knowledge of basic accounting principles

Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and with a diverse student population

Compliance with FERPA, GLB Act, PCI DSS, and FTC Red Flag Rule standards
