Job Opportunity: Accounts Payable Accountant
Virginia Tax is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Accountant to manage agency invoices within the Cardinal accounting system, ensuring timely and accurate payments. This role also assists the Accounts Payable Supervisor with travel vouchers, purchase cards, fixed assets, leases, and the agency chart of accounts.
Location: Downtown Richmond, VA (Hybrid telework eligible after training)
Salary: Commensurate with experience (up to $67,000)

Responsibilities:
- Process all agency invoices in the Cardinal system.
 - Ensure timely and accurate bill payments.
 - Assist with travel vouchers, purchase cards, fixed assets, leases, and the agency chart of accounts.
 - Create accounting entries in Cardinal or other accounting systems.
 - Verify purchase orders and reconcile discrepancies.
 - Maintain accurate financial and accounting records.
 - Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
 - Handle multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
 - Experience with data analysis and Microsoft Excel.
 - Experience creating accounting entries in Cardinal or similar systems.
 - Experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing, verification, reconciliation, and payment preparation.
 - Excellent customer service and communication skills.
 - Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
 
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, including reconciliations, budgeting, and financial statements.
 - Strong analytical and decision-making skills in accounting.
