About the Role
MediaNews Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will handle credit and collections activities, assist with billing, cash receipts, and support other accounting tasks as needed. You’ll collaborate with Circulation and Advertising Managers to manage accounts, reduce delinquencies, and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor A/R aging reports and minimize overdue accounts

Perform customer credit analyses when required

Initiate collection calls, emails, and written communications

Escalate collection issues in coordination with Circulation and Advertising Managers

Maintain A/R collections modules in Circulation and Advertising systems

Prepare and distribute A/R aging reports for review

Conduct customer revenue and A/R trend analysis

Refine collection procedures with professionalism and diplomacy
Qualifications
-
GED or high school diploma (Associate’s degree preferred)

Knowledge of accounting processes and controls

Proficiency with Excel (including formulas) and 10-key

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Experience with automated A/R and accounting systems preferred

Hourly rate: $17.75–$20.00 (based on location, experience, and qualifications)
