R1’s R37 team is transforming healthcare financial performance with AI, serving 95 of the top 100 hospital systems in the US. We are seeking an AI Engineer II to join our dynamic, fast-growing team. As an AI Engineer II, you will work on AI-driven solutions for unstructured healthcare data, implement models with guidance from senior engineers, and help create systems to measure AI performance. Responsibilities of the AI Engineer II

Contribute to AI features, including retrieval, ranking, categorization, and generative AI for healthcare data.

Collaborate on AI projects from requirements gathering to deployment, supporting business objectives.

Assist in implementing reliable AI models in production, learning proper monitoring and operational practices.

Apply evaluation datasets, metrics, and model architectures to deliver effective AI solutions tied to business outcomes.

Work closely with product managers and engineers to integrate AI capabilities and share knowledge across the team.
AI Engineer II Requirements

Experience with AI/ML systems in production, including search, ranking, or generative AI applications.

Familiarity with prototyping AI solutions and moving projects from concept to implementation.

Understanding of AI development lifecycle, from model selection to basic productionization under guidance.

Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and pre-trained models from platforms like Hugging Face.

Exposure to deployment tools such as Databricks, AWS Bedrock, or Azure ML.
Preferred Qualifications for AI Engineer II

Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or a related field.

Demonstrated ability to connect technical modeling work with business value.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $140,000–$200,000 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus plan.
