H-E-B is looking for energetic and customer-focused individuals to join our Deli team as a Food Service Representative. In this role, you’ll help create a clean, well-stocked, and inviting deli department by preparing and packaging fresh products and delivering outstanding service to our Customers.

What You’ll Do
Customer Service

Greet and assist customers in person or over the phone

Help customers select deli products and take special orders

Provide information on product features and preparation
Food Service & Production
-
Prepare, slice, package, and merchandise fresh deli items daily
-
Maintain clean and sanitary workspaces and equipment
-
Assist with basic food prep tasks, including slicing meats and cheeses
Sales & Merchandising

Use suggestive selling to promote featured items
-
Support department sales through product knowledge
Food Safety & Sanitation

Operate and maintain deli slicers and equipment safely
-
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures

Clean display cases and prep areas thoroughly
Deli-Specific Responsibilities

Serve customers at the service counter

Use ordering and inventory systems (MSI, PAW, Fresh Production Planner)

Ensure timely preparation of catering orders

Monitor product quality, rotation, and expiration dates
-
Sanitize deli equipment regularly
Qualifications
-
Must be at least 18 years old
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Completion of orientation and food safety training upon hire

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to read, write, and follow instructions

Basic computer and labeling equipment knowledge
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 55 lbs; may occasionally manage items up to 65 lbs

Frequent standing, walking, and reaching; occasional bending and kneeling

Exposure to cold, hot, and wet conditions and loud noise
