We are currently seeking Apprentice Imaging Assistants to join our dynamic Medical Imaging team at Colchester Hospital. You will primarily be based in Ultrasound, with some rotation through X-Ray and CT depending on service needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start or build a career in healthcare.
About the Apprenticeship
You will undertake a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship within your first 18 months.

Includes 8 weeks of classroom-based training

On-the-job learning with skilled imaging professionals
No previous healthcare experience is required — just a passion for patient care and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:

Welcome and support patients attending radiology appointments
-
Assist Radiographers, Sonographers, Nurses, and Radiologists during procedures
-
Support patient mobility, positioning, dressing, and personal care
-
Provide information and comfort to patients before and after scans
-
Maintain patient dignity and privacy at all times
-
Decontaminate imaging equipment and ensure readiness between patients
-
Escort patients safely within clinical areas
-
Support with patient screening and safety protocols
-
Help ensure smooth departmental flow by running errands and supporting admin duties
Shift Patterns:
This is a 7-day service with shift work including:

Long days

Weekends
-
Bank holidays
