Job Overview – Assistant Controller

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial performance of the Gonzalez Group. You will ensure compliance with US GAAP, support internal controls, and contribute to strategic financial decision-making. This position works closely with plant management to optimize cost structures, analyze performance metrics, and guide operational decisions.

Major Responsibilities

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Manage and monitor cash flow, including daily and monthly reporting.
Assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
Analyze plant performance metrics, labor, inventory, and overhead costs.
Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Expert knowledge of US GAAP and manufacturing accounting.
Strong decision-making skills with high ethics and discretion.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and effectively.
Capable of leading change and resolving conflicts.
Advanced IT skills including ERP systems and MS Excel.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel occasionally for company needs.
Proactive “can-do” attitude.

Qualifications

5+ years of accounting and finance experience; POC project accounting a plus.
BA in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred).
Strong background in manufacturing accounting and financial reporting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform repetitive motions and prolonged sitting.
Use hands to handle or control tools and objects.
Lift light loads (under 25 lbs).
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
