Job Description

As the Assistant Director, Talent & Culture, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the overall human resources function of the property. This role embodies Fairmont’s philosophy of cultivating a workplace where every colleague feels recognized and appreciated for their contributions.

Salary Range: $90,000–$115,000 annually


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Talent & Culture (HR) department

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the T&C team, supporting administrative functions as needed

  • Partner with the Regional Director of Talent & Culture to identify organizational needs and implement HR strategies focused on employee relations, recruitment, wellness, and retention

  • Coordinate employee engagement programs such as Employee of the Month, staff events, and communication initiatives

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and benefits administration

  • Maintain strong relationships with educational institutions for talent outreach

  • Oversee immigration and residency tracking for employees

  • Lead retention and recognition initiatives aligned with business goals

  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to inform future strategies

  • Advise managers on employment law, labor relations, and policy interpretation

  • Foster a culture of wellness, balance, and open communication across departments

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of final pay and confidential payroll data

  • Participate in budgeting and month-end processes for the department

  • Promote leadership excellence by supporting coaching, feedback, and goal-setting across departments

  • Serve as a role model, embodying the organization’s values and leadership culture

  • Build strong relationships and maintain an environment of trust, respect, and aloha spirit


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in the hospitality industry

  • Strong background in talent acquisition, benefits administration, and labor relations

  • In-depth knowledge of local employment laws and HR best practices

  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to engage a diverse workforce

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to work independently

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Adaptable, collaborative, and passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture

  • Highly dependable, with a sense of urgency and professional integrity


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred

Certifications

  • SHRM certification preferred
