As an Assistant Educator, you will help create a warm, nurturing, and developmentally supportive environment for preschool children. You’ll collaborate with lead and associate educators to implement effective learning strategies and promote positive social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build nurturing relationships with children and create a welcoming, engaging classroom atmosphere

  • Assist with daily routines including learning activities, hygiene, meals, and transitions

  • Support children’s learning through play, reading, writing, and early math

  • Provide individualized attention and help implement tailored educational strategies

  • Help prepare the classroom environment and materials before each school day

  • Participate in staff meetings, collaborative planning, and child progress discussions

  • Flexibly support other classrooms or school needs as requested

  • Follow all SOI policies, procedures, and California State Licensing requirements

  • Complete routine cleaning duties and safety checks

  • Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and support of children with diverse needs

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Lead Educator, with mentorship and support from the Associate Educator.

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Minimum 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units

    • At least 1 year of experience working in an early childhood setting

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with children with special needs

    • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently

    • Team player with flexibility and problem-solving ability

    • Able to work independently and collaboratively

    • Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 40 lbs

  • Sit, kneel, or crouch at child level for up to 30 minutes

  • Climb stairs, bend, reach, and coordinate multiple physical tasks

  • Work in a moderately loud classroom environment
