Position Summary
Fayetteville State University’s School of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. Candidates will be expected to teach at both BSW and MSW levels, maintain office hours, mentor students, participate in scholarly activities, and contribute to school, college, university, and community service. The role requires professional competence in the candidate’s specialization and the ability to teach online.
Key Responsibilities

Cross-teach courses at BSW and MSW levels.

Maintain office hours and mentor students.

Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publication in refereed journals.

Serve on academic committees and provide professional service at multiple levels.

Maintain professional competence and subject matter expertise in social work.

Utilize Canvas and innovative teaching technologies effectively in the classroom.

Seek external funding through grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (PhD or DSW) in Social Work (ABD candidates considered; degree must be conferred by start date).

Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

2+ years post-MSW professional social work experience.

Professional competence in area of specialization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online platforms (Canvas, Zoom, Teams, SharePoint).

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at BSW and MSW levels.

Commitment to scholarship and service.
