The Governors of The Elton High School are seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Assistant Safeguarding in Education Officer to join our Student Support Team, with a dedicated focus on Children Looked After (CLA).

This is a vital role within our school, where your expertise will directly impact the wellbeing, safety, and educational success of some of our most vulnerable learners.

4 days per week will focus on CLA/post-CLA students.
1 day per week will support wider student welfare alongside the broader Student Support Team.

 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead on Personal Education Plans (PEPs): Develop, implement, and review PEPs to ensure CLA pupils receive tailored and effective support.

  • Champion CLA/Post-CLA Learners: Coordinate appropriate provision and interventions to support academic, emotional, and social outcomes.

  • Safeguarding Support: Provide high-quality advice and assistance on safeguarding issues across school, working closely with designated staff.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Liaise with carers, local authorities, social workers, and school staff to maintain a holistic support network.

  • Support Wider Student Welfare: Assist the Student Support Team one day per week with broader safeguarding and pastoral matters.

 What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone with:

  • Extensive experience supporting children and young people

  • A solid understanding of the education or social care sectors

  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding principles and legislation

  • Strong organisational, communication, and partnership-building skills

  • The ability to lead sensitive casework with confidence and care

Previous experience working in a school setting or with CLA/post-CLA children will be a strong advantage.
