We are currently hiring Assistant Teachers to support lead teachers in delivering quality early childhood education. This role offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with competitive pay and childcare discounts.

Position Summary

As an Assistant Teacher, you will support the lead teacher in creating a safe, healthy, and stimulating learning environment that promotes children’s development and learning progress.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily child care and implement Creative Curriculum activities

  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Lead Teacher for guidance and classroom coordination

  • Ensure a safe and engaging environment for children to play and learn

  • Perform cleaning tasks as outlined in classroom cleaning checklists

  • Complete paperwork, including daily activity sheets, accident reports, and child portfolio documentation

  • Participate in continuing education, completing at least 16 clock hours annually through classes, workshops, and in-services

  • Communicate classroom needs, concerns, and supply requirements to the Child Development Director

  • Collaborate professionally with staff, children, and parents

  • Uphold YMCA mission and values in all duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor


Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 16 years old

  • Responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and effective communicator

  • Prior child care experience preferred

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (training provided if needed)

  • Strong oral, written, and computer communication skills

  • Outgoing personality with experience engaging the public via phone and in person

  • Current CDA credential recommended

  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred
