Job Overview

The High Quality Credit Investment Team at Lord Abbett is seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager (APM) to support and enhance the performance of our High Quality multisector portfolio suite. This individual will be instrumental in managing risk exposures, maintaining optimal cash levels, and implementing strategic sector and security allocations across a wide range of multi-sector accounts.

This position, based in Jersey City, New Jersey, offers a dynamic, collaborative work environment and reports directly to a Portfolio Manager within the High Quality Credit team. The APM will work closely with other investment professionals and cross-functional partners across the firm.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure portfolio positioning aligns with team strategy, risk parameters, and client objectives.

  • Contribute to portfolio-level strategy and performance outcomes.

  • Assist in articulating macroeconomic outlooks and positioning strategies.

  • Implement top-down asset class and sector allocation decisions consistent with the team’s investment views.

  • Collaborate with technology and operations teams to optimize processes and systems.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of client guidelines and preferences while partnering with compliance and client service teams.

  • Engage regularly with Investment Associates and support internal knowledge-sharing.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in investment management or portfolio analytics.

  • Prior buy-side experience in a collaborative, team-driven setting is preferred.

  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple accounts and sectors simultaneously.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to drive results across internal teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or CFA designation is a plus but not mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

  • Discretionary Bonus: Eligible for an annual bonus based on firm, team, and individual performance
