Role: Software Developer – Technology Organization

In this role, you’ll design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that support our internal and external users. Working collaboratively across teams, you’ll analyze user needs, write efficient code, maintain existing applications, and ensure optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and code software programs; create and run tests, debug code, and document installation and operating procedures.

  • Build new applications of moderate complexity, applying standard development practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including developers, designers, project managers, and QA—to implement and support applications.

  • Support application specification development and participate in post-implementation reviews to share insights and improve processes.

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for production systems.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript

  • Solid understanding of SQL and preferably Oracle database systems

  • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies

  • Working knowledge of system architecture and strong troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to evolving tools

  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering to deployment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Basic understanding of Agile practices and IT organizational structure

  • General knowledge of the industry and New York Life’s products and services

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to work effectively within the business area and align tech solutions with business needs

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication abilities

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $60,000 – $102,500 (based on experience, skills, and location)

  • Overtime Eligible: Yes (nonexempt)

  • Discretionary Bonus Eligible: Yes

  • Sales Bonus Eligible: No

In addition to a competitive base salary, employees may qualify for incentive programs and annual discretionary bonuses.
