Role Summary
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will assist registered staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients. You’ll play an essential role in maintaining patients’ dignity, safety, and well-being while supporting the day-to-day functioning of the ward or care environment.
Key Responsibilities

Assist registered nurses with routine care and implementation of patient care plans.

Provide personal care support (dressing, bathing, toileting) with dignity and in line with best practice and policies.

Observe and report any changes in a patient’s physical, emotional, or mental health to senior staff.

Carry out delegated care interventions, including:

Patient observation and engagement

Escorting patients on leave
-
De-escalation and managing challenging behaviours (following training)

Maintain a clean and safe ward environment and adhere to infection control procedures.

Assist in stock management, including pharmaceuticals and general supplies.

Respond courteously to telephone and in-person enquiries, supporting patients, families, and visitors.

Actively participate in team meetings and the delivery of a high-quality, multidisciplinary care approach.
Person Specification
Essential:

Currently employed with us via an approved agency

Ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care

Willingness to undertake training and attend a 4-week induction (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)
Desirable:

Previous experience in a healthcare or support worker role

Confidence in de-escalation and therapeutic engagement
