Position Summary

The Banquet Set Up Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the setup and breakdown of banquet and event spaces, ensuring flawless execution of events while maintaining compliance with company standards. This role requires close coordination with multiple departments and strong leadership to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and verify setup and breakdown of all function areas per banquet event orders

  • Collaborate closely with Audio Visual, Conference Services, and Banquet Service staff to meet organizer requirements

  • Ensure meeting rooms are refreshed during breaks

  • Monitor banquet, catering, and meeting spaces for housekeeping or maintenance needs and report issues

  • Maintain and order inventory of necessary materials

  • Enforce company and departmental standards by holding staff accountable fairly and consistently

  • Schedule staff in compliance with labor standards and monitor employee time for payroll and overtime

  • Oversee training of new hires per task inventories

  • Supervise Banquet House Person and maintain cleanliness of all function spaces

  • Develop diagrams for functions as needed, aligning with function sheet specifications

  • Make sound decisions on the spot and coordinate equipment movement across venues

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of guest services, local activities, dining, and attractions for guest inquiries

  • Keep all work areas clean and organized

  • Ensure departmental standards of quality and timing are upheld

  • Report equipment problems, safety hazards, and maintenance issues promptly

  • Attend employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in event setup and supervision

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds

  • Capable of kneeling, crouching, squatting, climbing, standing, sitting, balancing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and walking for extended periods

  • Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills under pressure

  • Clear vision for reading reports and overseeing activities

  • Good hearing for effective communication
