Overview:
Join Kirkwood Community College as a Bartender / Trainer at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center! In this role, you will craft and serve beverages, deliver food and drinks to patrons, ensure responsible alcohol service, and mentor students in hospitality operations. This position combines hands-on bartending with student training, offering a unique opportunity to grow professionally while supporting the college’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve drinks and deliver food and beverages to guests.

  • Monitor and manage guest alcohol consumption responsibly.

  • Take orders from patrons or serving staff and ensure accuracy.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, lounge, and patio areas.

  • Operate POS terminals and handle cash transactions efficiently.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor students in all areas of hospitality operations.

  • Attend service and food safety trainings; adhere to “Serving Alcohol with Care” principles.

  • Provide positive, guest-focused service at all times.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support hotel and hospitality operations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Bartending experience in a professional setting preferred.

  • Post-secondary education preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years full-time hospitality experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, staff, and students.

  • Professional appearance and positive, guest-first attitude.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and stay active during entire shifts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping (10–33% of shift).

  • Frequent reaching and close visual tasks (34–66%).
