Purpose
As a Behavioral Health Associate (BHA1), you will provide direct patient care under the guidance of physicians and other health practitioners. This role requires compassion, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient safety while supporting patients in their journey toward improved wellness and independence.
Essential Functions

Prioritize patient safety and deliver excellent customer service.

Conduct routine safety checks and provide required supervision (e.g., 15-minute rounds or individualized guidelines).

Maintain timely and accurate documentation in patient medical records.

Create a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Take and record patient vital signs, height, and weight as assigned.

Engage patients in therapeutic activities and interactions that support treatment goals.

Respond calmly to distressed patients, applying de-escalation techniques when necessary.

Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals, hydration, and changing linens.

Support patient admissions and discharges.

Co-lead or lead individual or group therapy or recreational sessions as assigned.

Encourage and reinforce behavioral improvements and coping skills.

Provide or coordinate patient transportation when needed.

Collaborate with the care team to support treatment and rehabilitation programs.

Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness in all tasks performed.
Other Responsibilities

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education, Experience & Skills
-
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum six months’ experience as a BHA1 preferred.

Six months or more experience with the facility’s specific patient population preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
-
CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire).
-
First Aid certification may be required depending on state or facility requirements.
