Class Title: Teacher
Under the supervision of the school principal, the Bilingual Teacher (Grades 4–5, Spanish) is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, monitoring student progress, and supporting the academic, social, and behavioral development of students in assigned classes. This includes instructional planning, lesson preparation, classroom management, student evaluation, and family engagement.
Essential Functions

Prepare and deliver written lesson plans aligned with instructional program objectives.

Establish positive learning expectations and maintain accurate student achievement records.

Apply research-based instructional methods and utilize a wide range of teaching materials.

Develop engaging learning environments with bulletin boards and student-centered activities.

Support initiatives to improve student attendance and promote school-wide positive behaviors.

Enforce classroom and school rules consistent with CPS Uniform Discipline Code.

Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.

Foster self-discipline, positive self-concept, and fairness in teacher-student relationships.

Hold conferences with parents/guardians, administrators, and support staff as needed.

Communicate regularly with families on student progress, attendance, and conduct.

Participate in professional development, in-service training, and staff meetings.

Coordinate/attend field trips, extracurriculars, and after-school activities as appropriate.

Utilize community resources to enhance student learning.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience

Completion of all student teaching requirements.

Completion of all coursework required for Illinois teaching certification.
Licensing Requirements
-
Valid Illinois teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education:

Professional Educator License (PEL) OR
-
Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) – properly endorsed for this role.

Strong knowledge of subject matter consistent with certification requirements.

Understanding of contemporary teaching principles and instructional practices.
