Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist – Remote (NC, NJ, PA)

OnTarget is seeking a detail-oriented Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our remote Billing team. This role focuses on processing claims, posting payments, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring client billing is accurate and timely. The ideal candidate will combine strong organizational skills with excellent customer service, helping reduce outstanding accounts and maintain smooth billing operations. Key Responsibilities of the Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist

Billing and Claims Management

  • Create batch billing from time records and generate invoices as needed.

  • Submit electronic billing per payer timely filing guidelines and ensure all EDI reports are accepted without rejections.

  • Review and resolve claim denials following mandatory processes.

  • Submit documentation to state offices for deductible clients and process paper billing for private pay clients.

Payment Posting and Accounts Receivable

  • Collect payments from payers, families, and government entities according to company processes.

  • Post electronic and manual payments accurately in the accounting system.

  • Review accounts receivable to identify and resolve billing or posting issues.

Authorizations and Client Support

  • Enter and maintain authorizations in the EHR system following company guidelines.

  • Serve as an alternate contact for the authorization department and liaise with clients and payers.

  • Maintain service codes, billing configurations, and rates per standard operating procedures.


Qualifications

  • 1+ years of healthcare claims, billing, accounts receivable, or payment posting experience.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to prioritize workload.

  • Excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage organized processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000 – $52,000 (based on experience, location, and skills).
