Summary

Baylor Genetics is seeking a Billing Specialist AR to join our team. This role is responsible for monitoring claims and payer responses, taking corrective actions to ensure accurate payment of claims, adjustments, and invoices to patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare revenue cycle management and the ability to work efficiently with multiple payer groups.


Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in revenue cycle management for healthcare providers.

  • Laboratory RCM experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and payer claim requirements.

  • Hands-on experience with all payer groups and plans.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review payer claim responses, including denials, and take appropriate next steps.

  • Prepare and submit appeal packets with patient medical records and documentation supporting medical necessity.

  • Follow up with payers regarding claim status.

  • Utilize RCM software and payer websites to track claims.

  • Submit medical records to payers as required.

  • Generate regular reports for RCM leadership.

  • Prepare and manage payer appeals as needed.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and use of hand/finger dexterity.

  • Frequent talking, hearing, and visual tasks such as reading and computer use.

  • Occasional exposure to bloodborne or airborne pathogens and infectious materials.
