Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Insurance & Patient Accounts Coordinator to join our healthcare team in Bloomington, IN. This role involves verifying insurance benefits, handling pre-authorizations, communicating with patients about account balances, and processing payments. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and prior experience in medical billing, insurance, or patient accounts.
Key Responsibilities

Provide insurance consultations and verify benefits for medical/surgical procedures via phone or written communication.

Handle preauthorization requests for injections and surgeries with insurance companies.

Post all incoming patient payments promptly and accurately.

Answer incoming A/R calls and explain account charges/payments thoroughly to patients.

Process and manage applications for patient assistance programs, including related payments.

Contact patients regarding incorrect insurance details or outstanding balances.

Set up and manage payment arrangements (automatic debit or verbal promise to pay).

Proactively review encounter forms to initiate insurance verification and authorizations for upcoming appointments.
Qualifications

Prior experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or accounts receivable strongly preferred.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to commute to and work in Bloomington, IN is required.

Willingness to relocate before starting work if currently out of area.
