Job Overview

PWP Health LLC, a leading behavioral healthcare organization in the U.S., is hiring a Billing Specialist to support Medicaid billing operations and ensure timely reimbursements for behavioral health services. This is a hybrid position based in Altavista, VA, offering a structured training process and long-term growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Submission

  • Submit accurate Medicaid/MCO invoices using EHR and Google Sheets

  • Understand billing codes like IATP, CM, CS, and OPT

  • Follow established billing schedules (bi-weekly)

Tracking & Reconciliation

  • Maintain billing trackers (Paid/Unpaid, MCO Billing)

  • Reconcile totals weekly and monthly

  • Spot trends and flag discrepancies

Denials & Rejections

  • Monitor and resolve claim denials using trackers and reports

  • Prepare documentation for appeals, rebills, and resubmissions

  • Fully resolve rejected claims independently

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Verify authorizations with Utilization Management

  • Partner with Finance for payment reconciliation

  • Summarize billing performance and escalate issues as needed

Task Execution & Process Improvement

  • Accurately complete tasks while meeting strict deadlines

  • Prevent common billing errors

  • Recommend process enhancements for faster reimbursement

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in healthcare/behavioral health billing (preferred)

  • Associate degree or higher (preferred)

  • Experience with Medicaid, MCOs, and behavioral health billing codes

  • Familiarity with EHR systems and Google Sheets

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and regulatory compliance

Work Location Requirements

  • Must live or be willing to relocate within 75 miles of Altavista, Virginia, USA

  • Initial hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

  • Additional onsite days may be required occasionally
