Summary
The Bookkeeper supports Horizon High School’s financial operations, ensuring accurate management of budgets, accounts, and transactions. This role involves overseeing purchasing card activity, reconciling accounts, managing deposits, processing payables and receivables, handling student refunds, and monitoring general, athletic, pupil, mill levy, and grant funds. The position also provides customer service to students, staff, parents, and vendors while maintaining compliance with district policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage purchasing card transactions, purchase orders, and vendor contracts.

Track, reconcile, and deposit funds from student accounts, fundraising, and activities.

Oversee accounts payable, invoices, mileage reimbursements, and financial paperwork.

Assist with school budget development, reconciliation, and reporting.

Provide customer service to parents, students, vendors, and staff.

Prepare and maintain accurate records for financial and fundraising activities.

May assist with payroll-related duties and back up office staff.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum 4 years of clerical experience.

Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Associate’s degree in accounting preferred.

Coursework in business management, accounting, or bookkeeping preferred.

Experience with student information systems a plus.

Hourly pay range: $21.55 – $26.56 (Step 1–8, based on experience).
