About the Role
VDOT is seeking an Administrative and Business Support Specialist to manage the daily business operations of an assigned division or district section. This position involves overseeing financial management, project accounting, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with state and federal policies. You will serve as a vital link between administrative processes and operational delivery, providing accurate financial oversight and supporting strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Business Support

Provide a variety of administrative services to the assigned work unit.

Interpret and apply VDOT, state, and federal policies and procedures in daily operations.
Fiscal & Budget
-
Coordinate financial and budgetary activities.

Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, reconcile data, and prepare reports.
Procurement
-
Develop, coordinate, and oversee division or district-specific contracts.

Review invoices and vouchers, process payments, and reconcile procurement data.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with diverse groups.

Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.

Ability to research, analyze, and format financial data into clear reports and recommendations.

Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and procurement principles and practices.

Proficiency with computers, electronic procurement platforms, and financial management systems.
Additional Considerations

Education, training, or experience in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

Knowledge of federal and state accounting principles.

Prior experience with financial management systems.
-
Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) certification.
