About the Role
The Reporting Business Analyst Sr. is a key member of our Data and Analytics team, responsible for translating business needs into actionable insights. You will design, develop, and support real-time reporting, dashboards, and analytic solutions primarily using Epic’s Cogito BI tools (Reporting Workbench, Radar, Slicer Dicer) and Qlik Sense.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with operational leaders, physicians, and staff to deliver high-quality, data-driven intelligence that informs decision-making across the health system. You’ll also mentor junior analysts, establish best practices, and help guide the evolution of our reporting and analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Assess business and analytics needs, recommending the most effective reporting solutions.

Develop reports, dashboards, and SQL-based custom metrics using Epic Reporting Workbench and Radar.

Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, validate results, and ensure accurate reporting.

Provide production-level support for BI environments while troubleshooting and resolving issues.

Create and maintain documentation, report specifications, and training materials.

Mentor junior analysts, conduct code reviews, and enforce reporting best practices.

Collaborate with Epic application teams on data access, roles, and security templates.

Lead initiatives to retire legacy reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports) and migrate to modern solutions.

Educate business users on self-service analytics tools such as Slicer Dicer and Qlik Sense.

Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining service-oriented communication.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 10+ years of progressively responsible BI/analytics experience in lieu of degree).

Certifications: Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, and one clinical/access data model certification (must obtain within 12 months of hire).

Experience:

6+ years in business intelligence or analytics, including at least 2 years with Epic Reporting Workbench and Radar dashboards.

Strong SQL expertise for high-volume datasets.

Proven experience with BI development, data warehousing concepts, and enterprise data management practices.

Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, project management, and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with healthcare data, hospital/ambulatory workflows, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, DNV, MIPS).

Technical training or certifications in Agile methodologies.

Experience mentoring teams and leading large-scale reporting projects.
Physical Demands

Requires moderate visual effort and frequent keyboarding.
